Small Pellet Stoves
A lot
of people are looking for the small pellet stoves and this is somewhat of a difficult chore. Most of them want a stove that will heat a single
15x15 room or about 200-400 square feet. Of course they want it to feed pellets at a very slow rate and they want it to run off of a
thermostat. And of course they want the price to be low.
This a tall order. First off most pellet stoves cannot
handle a really slow rate of burn. That is why you won’t find any pellet stoves that will only heat a couple of hundred square feet. A company
used to sell a small pellet stove that heated 900 square feet and it was somewhat of a problem. It was very difficult to keep clean and it
would go out in the middle of the night. It was not an ideal pellet stove to say the least.
A company called Thelin makes a small pellet stove
named Gnome which stands only 34” tall and they say is ideal for cabins, single rooms or mobile homes. Standard equipment for the Thelin Gnome
is a 12 volt circuitry fro battery back up and wall thermostat options.
The Gnome is manually lit and has a very small
footprint. Most people like the pot belly stove look of this model. If you purchase one just make sure you get an ash vac with
it.
Of course the problem with the Gnome is the high price
which is in the neighborhood of almost $3000. So if you are looking for a small pellet stove, this may be it if you can afford the
cost.
If you are looking for a small pellet stove you might
also want to check out the Harman Stove Company. They offer some stoves
that have the ability to constantly regulate the temp
in the room to help prevent over or under heating which would be a great help considering how small the space to be heated
is.
